East Zion

This is from the eastern portion of the park. Someday (soon I hope) I will take some trips just for photography rather than try to make images while life happens. Not to say that time with family wasn't a very good thing, but this was a stolen moment in a lesser celebrated portion of the park. I actually like the challenge of trying to make something special of less iconic parts of iconic places.

Nikon D600, 24-70 1/250 at f5.6, handheld, ISO 200.

PS The juxtaposition with David's Watchman image was just interesting timing

The more I look at this, the more it grows on me (especially in the large version). The detailed shadows, colors and lines make this an interesting image. I wonder if the sky may be a bit too dark, but I don't know... Glad you were able to catch this!

Excellent comp and lighting to show off these striations. The color combo of RGB works so well together. Beautiful work.

Russell,

Excellent job filling the frame with color and design. You've handled the light well an the colors are captured and displayed very nicely here. No nits or suggestions.

Russell, I like the curved lines and the reddish color against the blue. The blue does seem a little dark to me but it also really sets this off so I think it works! I especially enjoy the detail seen in your larger version. Very nice!
