St. Ann's Bay, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

Rocks at sunrise on the cobble beach of St. Ann's Bay. I especially like the rim light and glowing seaweed.

Pentax 67II
Pentax 67 55-100mm
Velvia 50
4-Stop ND Filter

Thanks for having a look.

Very nice Eva. Captures the misty mood and atmosphere of a seaside environment very well indeed. This has a unique quality that I'm not sure how you were able to accomplish and it works nicely.

That light on these rock gracefully curves front to back and together with the misty water, as well as the backlit seaweed, make this simply exquisite, Eva. The slightly out of focus rocks in the direct foreground and way in the background may limit print size (slight crop across the bottom maybe??) but maybe not. Wonderful image either way.
When I had my Pentax 6x7 back in the 90's, I often wished that Pentax would come out with a 45mm or a 75mm tilt/shift lens; they had that 75mm shift lens but no tilt. Mamiya did it with their RZ system but that was ridiculously expensive. One of the nice things about a view camera........

It's nice to see these calm images from the ocean. Someday I'll have to capture the big lake, but for now I'll just sit back and soak in these pieces of art you share!

I like the long exposure creating the misty look. I always like these cobble beach shots and this one is no exception. Very nicely done, Eva.

Very nice Eva. I really like the light, colors and your comp. Most of all I enjoy what the long exposure did making for a wonderful mood.

Eva,

I've said it before, I really love they mystical look of the water and when combined with great light and color, it's hard to resist these. I like this very much.

Considering this is Velvia and all that entails in terms of shadows... I think you handled it pretty well in scanning and processing, although I think the shadows could be worked a little bit. Have you tried TK's Triple Play? I think the Darks TP would work well here. But, this isn't quite at the same level as the earlier image you posted with the blocked up shadows on the right, this one here doesn't reach that.

Kinda wish I had a 6x7 as 4x5film is getting more scarce and expensive! grrr..

I really like the diagonal placement of the scene, Eva. I think Didi had a seascape shot recently with a similar idea and it too worked very nicely. I need to pay more attention to that as a possible option for compositions too. Also, as Lon eluded to the 6x7 usage you've had for many of your recent posts I have to agree with his thoughts on the issue. I will say I'm thrilled I've kept my 6x7 totally intact and ready to go if my 4x5 usage gets too far out of reach in the future.

Lovely light, nice comp, great misty effect, and excellent detail/lighting on the seaweed. When viewing the larger version, as mentioned by others the OOF rock at bottom of frame detracts a bit. Wouldn't typically bother me but the image invites one to inspect the detail in the foreground rocks and seaweed. Over all a lovely shot.
