Chipmunk lookout

From last month...a chipmunk that posed nicely for me. I wish in retrospect I had tried a touch more depth of field to get the tail in the zone, but wanted the soft background so this is the resulting trade-off. Moderate crop for presentation. D3S, 200-400 @400, iso 2800, f5, 1/1250.

Lovely as presented, Lon! They make such lovable subjects that, if you get the focussing and bg right, the image just speaks for itself.

Lovely pose and bg, but would prefer to see a bit off the top, and more space on the right I think.

Hi Lon, I agree with you compromise on the dof. Beautiful detail and color on the Chipmunk. I love the pose and the perch is perfect. This might work as a vertical as well, although the tail does extend to the side considerably so I understand this crop. Gorgeous background. :toast:

Aww! H is soooo cute! I love how you can see him holding onto the stick and how he is looking. His eye is really nice and bright. I like how soft the background is and how sharp he is.
