Just a peaceful little locale in Zion Canyon that I had all to myself for a few hours last week.

So much beauty going on here. You made the most of your time in Zion this year! A very busy image, but I think the various areas separate well. My only suggestion might be to try and tone down the background trees to help accentuate the FG. Purely a processing decision,Very well done.

Beautiful image, Jim. I like the contrast between the calm foreground pool and the swirling pool in the middleground. Great color and composition.

Interesting comp, Jim. The swirling pool really makes the image.

Beautiful scene and the colors all work well together. I like this as is, but also think it would work with the lower rock cropped off.

I really enjoy these southwest riparian shots. This would fit right in Arizona Highways.

Wow, love the textural contrast between the swirl and the sharp leaves surrounding it.

Love the spin. I'd like to see a version cropped just above the boulders to better feature your whirlpool of leaves, but this is stellar as is.

Jim,
What a great find and location! No doubt you had fun here and have many different comps. Haven't read any comments yet, but my first impression was that there is almost too much going on - especially with the dual pools. don't get me wrong, this is a wonderful autumn scene that includes the classic pool of swirling leaves. Just so much to see and explore it almost seems busy.
In the end though, if I break this down in to thirds, it's actually well balanced and nicely framed. I may have to rethink my too much going on comment...
color/sat and processing all look great.

Wow, I love this image, the leaf swirl is great. I hope you also shot some closer comps near the pool.

Thanks everyone for all of the kind comments thus far.
Yes, I do have several different compositions from this location, of the pool with the leaves, and also of the little stream flowing out of the frame at the bottom. I'll post a couple of them later.
Thanks again!

Looks like a difficult scene to compose, and you did a great job of it..the swirling leaves in the middle add a lot of interest.

My first reaction to the small view was "too much". But after seeing the large version I am amazed at how coherently it all comes together. I can imagine sitting there for hours getting lost in the sights and sounds of this little stream.
