Triple Falls is a closely guarded secret in Glacier National Park. It's not hard to get to, the hike takes no more than 20 minutes, but those who visit generally keep it to themselves. It has become one of my favorite places in the park.
During my September visit I made it a point to photograph the falls at least once. Before I set out I was informed from one of the park rangers that a man who had just hiked to the falls the previous day called it the "Triple Trickle". I decided to see for myself and well, he was right, at least about the trickle part, the main falls was still flowing pretty good though. I also found some wolverine tracks in the mud next to the creek, which got me pretty excited.
The late afternoon light wasn't doing me any favors so I opted for a shot from the bottom of the falls. Smoke was drifting in from the Avalanche Lake fire and diffused the sunlight a bit. I was hoping for some rays but it didn't happen.
As always I welcome your comments and suggestions and thanks for having a look.

26 commentsThe time of secrets are over - Google Earth showed me the place rather quickly. Tourists are like ants with location trackers.

This is a wonderfully framed and captured image of these Falls. Yes, we've seen a few of this location, and this one ranks right up there.
I would agree to some extent about the "hdr" look. Yes, I know it's not, but maybe it's just the situation of light and color, but I too had this cross my mind even before reading any comments. Also agree with Jefferey on the strong magenta/red cast - mostly in the rock wall as the water color seems quite accurate. Neither of these are huge deals, just an observation.
I'm not sure if it's still the case, but folks seeing this and reading this should know that during certain times of the year the trail or access to this area is restricted. Be sure and check with the rangers and heed all posted signs.

I've been wanting to photograph Triple Falls for some time too but luck hasn't been in my favor. When I went there in August the whole area where the falls are located were closed off to prevent environmental damage - everything was soft and wet. I tried again in October but on that occasion the whole area was in dense fog with strong cold winds and rain. Maybe I'll try again next year!
