A red-bellied woodpecker visits my backyard during a particularly nice fall day.

Nikon D300 w/500mm f/4
1/320sec. f/7.1 ISO400
Tripod, fill flash, feeder setup.

Cropped for comp. and a bit of clean up on the bill in CS3.

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

One of my back yard favs! Interesting perch and great detail on bird. Undecided about whether room for the unseen tail should be included. A nice portrait, either way. Sharon

Hi Joel
Great image. I like the positioning on the perch, colors and clarity are very nice. I might have cropped just a bit more off the top.

Stunning shot of this guy. Technicals are all nailed. The contrast between the bright red and rich green BG and moss is beautiful. The detail visible in the moss is an added bonus. Nicely done.

A fine image, Joel. Love the vibrant colors that still aren't overdone. Great perch. I'd move the bird slightly up in the frame if this were mine and I had the room at bottom.
