Yeah, you all have seen a zillion images from the Potholes...and you probably will see one more at least. I finally got a really colorful sunset and had to make a mad dash to shoot this. Basically, I had about 2 minutes to compose this shot and one horizontal a few feet away before the light was gone. Luckily, there was nobody else shooting at home this night. Normally, there are 4-5 photographers running around.

I think with the growth of social media outlets and photo sharing sites, this spot and many, many others out there are getting too popular/overcrowded. I remember back about 5-6 years ago when I was the only one shooting here. Oh, well, it's still home to me.

On another note, I am sorry I have been absent lately. Just too busy with volleyball coaching. I do have a few images from this past fall that I will post soon to get some feedback on.

This works nicely. Beautiful sky and reflection.

Did you switch over to Nikon? I see the D800 listed.

Well, not that usual to me, anyway...
Splendid colors and reflections, and an intriguing perspective...

If the ones to follow are anything like this, keep 'em coming! Gorgeous color and patterns in both the sky and potholes make this worth exploring the frame again and again. :toast: :toast:

Best pothole image yet. Love the paint-pot look of the ones in the foreground.

I've played championship volleyball for a long time and I can imagine that you are busy now as the new season has started here as well and I see all my friends getting busy as well. It's good that I'm out of the sport now as I would miss all the great fall colors happening at the moment.
Love the shot - great subject and skillful processing as usual. I see you switched to the D800 like many other photographers here. I remember that you were a 5DMII shooter too and would be interested how you feel about the switch. Like you I also have some Zeiss lenses - did you stay with Zeiss?

This is sweet! Maybe your best, or among the best from here for sure. I thought that camera was a loner? You've been holding on to it for a while now, don't they miss it?

Andreas and Chris....yes, the D800 was just a loaner. I had it for about 3 months  However, I had to return it a few days ago. I get to borrow a 5D3 soon, so that should be fun to test out and figure out which system to go with!

Thanks for the info, Jimmy. I wish it were that easy to loan a camera around here. I'm curious what you will go for in the end.

Jimmy,

Gorgeous color here! And I think you've done quite well for yourself from this area, despite it's growing popularity. I'm sure you will always find something new and invigorating here.

Just exceptional color Jimmy. Hopefully popularity doesn't hurt this area; the pot holes are truly an iconic foreground.

My daughter played high school volleyball and loved it. Nevertheless, I think I enjoyed following her and the team even more. Kudos to you for working with such an awesome sport.
