Selfoss

Selfoss is a waterfall in the river Jökulsá á Fjöllum in the north of Iceland. The river originates as melt water from the glacier Vatnajökull. I visited on a rather gray and dull day in June, which prevented me for incorporating the sky. Amazing location in a magical land. I was attracted my the geometric shapes in the foreground rocks. Shot F22, ISO 100, 2.0s. Post trying out Silver Efex Pro.

What an interesting water feature, Richie. From the thumbnail, I thought it was a dam with water running over it. Then when I openned it, I discovered it was rock and the water was falling into a deep fault of some kind. Then seeing the water coming in from the right. Very neat area and you composed and captured it well. And, yes, the shapes in the rocks is interesting as well. B&W works well here. Good job!

I like the comp as well. Could maybe see adding a bit more contrast to the foreground group, but regardless, I still like it. Iceland is always amazing.

This has so much interest ... front to back ... side to side. My eye is easily drawn in to explore the entire composition. My only minor nitpick is that the roughly cubical boulder on the right looks somewhat out of place with the more random patterns throughout the rest of the scene.

I don't know why this isn't getting more comments, it is a great comp of an interesting scene. I would like to see the color version however.

Well done, Shane
