I liked the way I positioned the leaf in focus framed by the shadows and OOF other leaves.

Very interesting comp here. I really like the detail in the highlighted portion of the leaves and the shadows give it a nice balance. Only thing I might of done different is crop some off the right side to remove the OOF leaf in the upper right corner. It draws my eye to it rather then focusing on the excellent texture of the highlights.

Startling color and contrast! IMO, the shadows are very important in creating an attractive semi-abstract. I say "semi-abstract" because the subject is clear, even though there is no entire leaf apparent, and the bright background and dark shadows create sort of a random pattern.
