Columbine in Fall II

A week or so ago I posted a single which was bad. I appreciate the critical responses and all responses. I wanted to work on these, I think, beautiful old spent flowers and have come up with this.

I should explain my personal feelings about nature photos, in that I don't seek to process to the point of maximum perfection and like a natural amount of fuzz and stems and stuff that others would wish to clone. So I do appreciate hearing what you honestly feel about any image of mine, but hope you will understand that some things I may have a different feel about.

Olympus E-5
12-60mm plus 1.4 teleconverter
FL 68mm
8 sec exposure
f32
-2.0 ev
no flash
ISO 200
manual focus
Full frame

Thanks for critique and comments

Good texture and a real sense of time and place.

I feel much as you do Charlie, although I have been known to deadhead, remove pine needles, pull dead stems out of the frame, etc. As a last result, I usually eliminate or tone way down any OOF highlights.

As I read you post Phil I know that on some images I go to great lengths to clone out a lot. It just goes to show you...

Charlie - Nice to know your philosophy behind making your photos. It helps me to tailor the feedback appropriately.

I like the subject matter much more here than in your last frame with the same subject. Two is sometime better than one for me many a times like in this one. I really love those curls and the details in the petals.

Like this a lot, Charlie ! The light is perfect, catching the tops of the flowers beautifully, and the comp certainly works for me with the leaves and stems at the base.

Yes Charlie, it is true that I would clone something in the bottom but the upper part is splendid. Altogether a beautiful photo for me.
Take care.

Hi Charlie :wavey: I have always admired your subject choice, this one is no exception . I like the composition, light and color. but would have eliminated the green growth on the rt lower stem. its the only weak point of a very stong and beautiful image

Charlie:
Like this one a lot. The top one is picture perfect. Wish the bottom bloom is just as sharp as the top one but I see you are already at F32.

Love images of seed heads and especially like this one. Love the great curls in the top bloom. I wonder what it would look like if the bottom green leaves were cloned out. Can't quite make up my mind about the inclusion of the fresh green leaves in an image of the rich brown seed heads. Just a thought not a criticism.
