Buffalo Weaver
by Howard Cheek
Native to East Africa, "White-headed Buffalo Weavers" are named for their elaborate nests, which they build by “weaving” together thorny branches.
I shot this at the San Antonio Zoo in their "Amazonia" exhibit.
This lush outdoor area, encompassing a large segment of the zoo's waterway, is home to more than thirty species of tropical animals and many types of tropical plants including orchids and bromeliads.
The birds there fly free as you walk through, it was very cool.
Would like to go again someday & spend more time shooting..
