Watch the Dancing Ladies. . .

The group that discovered these, named them the dancing ladies. They are helictites. They are cave formations that seem to defy gravity by growing up from within and branch off into many diferent directions.

This was shot with a Canon D Rebel and a Canon 420 EX flash and an off camera cord. The flash was held by the model, slightly below the ledge with the formations on it.

Love it, what a balance and what a trip you had mate. Next time give me a call ok  Dancing is the right word, amazing at the age of the dancers Rob.

All the best Rob, a very unusual view and place to be taken to with this shot. :toast:

Very very cool shot Rob, and I loved reading about your trip. Nice vision and use of the photographic medium. I like the B&W also. Wow, that trip sounded like a lot of work, but pretty exciting.

Rob, a very good and interesting shot of these helictites. This image is made all the more interesting once you know more of the story behind it. (See Where has Nature Photography taken you? in the Nature Discussion forum.)

Thank you for that, Rob. That was fascinating reading.

This is an outstanding shot. You got the flash just right here, and it was tricky. This photo stands alone as an interesting image, and I think you could probably sell it to a spelunking or outdoor adventure magazine. It would be a great cover shot.
