High Country Reflection

Getting ready to head out for Fall colors in Colorado and went thru some of my old photos from a few years ago. Everything seemed to work for me with this image- Peak Fall color, no Wind, Good Light, Great Clouds and a little dusting of snow in the peaks. Hope I can duplicate those conditions this week.

Oh yeah, everything did work in this beautiful view. I think my only nit might be the darkness of the blue sky. It's easy to do that with a polarizer, and it is really dramatic, especially if you want to make a black and white. However, for some scenes, I am just starting to appreciate a slightly less dark sky, more like I would see without the polarized glasses. Just a matter of taste. This is still a gorgeous photograph.

Wayne- I agree with you- that was a couple years ago and have gone in the no polarizer mode since.

In light of Wayne's comment, I'm curious to see this as a b&w. Beautiful as is. Nice job

Bob,

Wow, this is one terrific autumn, sky, cloud, mountain, reflection... landscape. Couldn't ask for much more here.

As mentioned, the high contrast would serve a b&w well, although you give up the fall color. You didn't mention it, but can I assume a polarizer was used? A PL is always an option and works well with this scene, although personally I think it's a little strong. Contrast just a little too much and to accentuate that, this looks slightly underexposed as well. Not by much, but the darker exposure really makes the contrast stand out.

Certainly though, you have a terrific image. Beautiful!

Wonderful composition and the reflection is a real bonus. Sky feels a bit over-polarized, though this is a matter of personal taste, for sure.
