Portrait of a Rock Face

One of my favorite rock faces in Hoellental, a gorge in Lower Austria. This location is also popular for white-water riding.

A shot from November last year - I processed it while we are still waiting for autumn to arrive.

A striking scene with these contrasting colors and textures. It is beautiful, but for some reason the composition does not seem as spectacular as the location, if that makes any sense. I wonder if a wider-angle view, showing what is above this, might be more exciting. Just speculating. Otherwise, excellent exposure and absolutely amazing details.

I agree with Wayne...this must sure be a spectacular place to be but somehow the comp doesn't do justice this location......Exposure is perfect but the light isn't really interesting and it looks kind of flat to me. The colors in the tree are nice and are a good contrast to the wall in the background

Another beauty Peter. I love the texture and color of the rocks, and how the entire scene captures my imagination.

Lovely color. Nice job controlling the light on all that white rock.

Peter, I think this image works really well. It looks like a great place and this makes me want to be there to see even more. I enjoy this comp and especially like the very natural colors and the different textures. This is nice work and I wonder what is ahead around the bend.

Peter - I thought this was a wall of ice from the thumbnail. I like the borders of color on the left and right and the turquoise water of the stream. Hope you get some great color again this autumn.

Fine composition, color and textures. The marks on the rock face alone could make a good abstract.

Interesting place. I like the framing with the red trees. Very nicely held texture in the rock too.

What a beautiful view! I love the contrasting elements that make up this composition. Really well done, Peter.
