Early in the morning

During a short holiday some weeks ago, I went out early a couple of times, to photograph Roe Deer. I was quite pleased with this one. Comments and critiques are welcome and much appreciated.
Nikon D300s @ 400 mm, f5, iso 200, 1/60 sec on a tripod.

Nice and "clean," Sandra. Hard to ask for anything more. I suppose some might deem the dark spots in the foreground distracting, but there is something of a tonal connection with the darker deer, which one might say helps it stand out from the lighter background even more. Lovely shot!

A very nice scene. IMHO you have handled the early morning light very well. The only thing I could think of would be if the deer's head was turned just a bit more towards the camera so both antlers were visible. Hard to tell if that would help or hurt. Thanks for sharing.

HI Sandra,

The softness, mood, colour, and simplicity of this image all work well for me. Nicely composed. About my only very minor nit is that I'm one of the folks Max is referring to who would find those darker spots in the foreground slightly distracting (but only slightly). Overall, though, I quite like this peaceful image...
