Thaya Valley at Dusk

This is an image from early summer last year. As this was a bright and sunny day, I had to wait until evening for these lighting conditions.

National Park Thaya Valley in the northern part of Lower Austria, at the border to the Czech Republic.

Peter, it would be good to have some specs to go with this. As is, I think compression has wounded this image. It has the crunchy feel.

I love the density of the forest and the break of that by the water. I don't know how you got to that vantage point!

Wonderful vantage point Peter. I do think compression is killing this a bit. I am sure this was an amazing view from this vantage point.

I like this almost abstract rendition of the Thayatal. Details are wonderful throughout the image. I guess I have to go there one day.

This looks almost abstract but I do love your comp. Great details throughout and nice colors.

I really like the abstract quality to this, Peter. My only thought might be to experiment a bit with mid-tone contrast, though this softer version is quite nice.

A wonderful view Peter! I like how framed this shot and enjoy the color. The rock out cropping and foreground tree branches add a lot to this scene.

Peter,

Excellent! I'm really liking this. This has such an intimate and almost abstract look, yet it encompasses a pretty broad landscape. Well seen and captured.

Disagree slightly with Phil though, I think the detail is excellent (for a web image) If anything, I think the lower trees may even be slightly over sharpened, but I don't see a whole lot of compression, at least nothing I would have commented on. Maybe it's just me and my fuzzy eyes are compensating... ;-)

Nice work.

Nice perspective and composition. I wonder if this might benefit from a bit of vignetting of the upper L to pull my eye back to the mid and bottom where most of the visual action is.
