This is a lovely place in spite of the thousands of tourists that you can find yearly. It is Lloret de Mar in the Costa Brava of Catalonia. There are wonderful coves just walking a little. This picture was done just after the sunset when the sky is still blue.

I hope that you enjoy it.

Thanks

This is almost two separate compositions. I love the bottom half of the rock surrounded by the misty water. I think that would stand as a it's own image. Not quite as enamoured with top half. Maybe it's the bright lighting on the castle that's distracting my eye.

Yes, I do enjoy this image, Joana! Very well composed shot. I like the misty rocks in the foreground and the placement of the castle on the left cliff. However, I also (like Barry) find the spotlit castle a little too bright. A slight toning down of the brightness would be helpful IMO, particularly in the bottom right corner area. Great timing of your shot to get the wonderful colors throughout the image, especially that rich blue.

The composition on this one is sound. However, something about the image annoys me. I guess to me this seems like HDR gone awry. I don'know why the foreground is so bright. I assume ther were some strong lights behind you that compete with the bright light reflecting off the castle. The illumination on the castle would look a lot more natural if this scene was much darker. Also, this looks better if I cover the bright spot near the right center area with my arrow.

What a beautiful place Joana. I love the smooth soft water and the composition is really nice. Others have pointed out a couple of small issues that I agree with already.

Well done. There's good balance between the natural light and the artificial light on the castle (although the doorway could be toned down a bit). I also like the sharpness contrast between the castle and surf surging over the rocks in the foreground.

Thanks a lot for your comments. There was some illumination in the rocks of the bottom that provides this appearance to the picture and we just took advantage of this. The shot is not an HDR. There is no manipulation either, just the minimum adjustments (white balance, etc.). We just used a neutral graduated filter (we belong to the old guard and still use neutral graduated filters!!!).
Thanks again
Joana

Nicely detailed and well-composed. I really like the rugged foreground element jutting out of the silky water. I agree with Robert that the small, bright rock in the midground is a slight distraction.
