Hope you all don't mind a bit of iconography. I decided to photograph Oxbow a little later than most last year to avoid the hoards of photographers. The weather was not that desirable. The Tetons were covered with clouds the whole time we were there. This was the only color we got one evening for about 30 seconds. Mount Moran looks like it blew its top but it's still under there. Not sure if the colors mesh that well here so I'd appreciate your opinion.

Thanks for the comments on my last image.

Some pretty blazing colours. A bit more peak showing would be perfect but still very nice.

Wonderful place and light. I love it. From my view, the clouds provide strength to the scene.
Congrats

Sweet shot Dean. The blue/warm combo is very nice. Perhaps the saturation of the sky could be throttled back a bit so it doesn't overpower the scene too much. Love the tree and vegetation colors and your comp.

The red channel in the clouds seems to be clipped. Lovely composition and conditions. I would work on that saturation and make sure the red is not clipped.

Fabulous colors and lighting...you had a nice dusting of snow too, which is not always the case in fall....good timing!

Dean,

What a glorious moment, and a special one from such an iconic location. It is in fact a great example why the temptation is always so great to return to these spots when something special is going on. Tunnel View in Yosemite is another example.

Not sure why I even want to mention this as it's just an opinion and not a nit, but for me, I might consider dodging and turning down the color/sat of just the bright and colored part of the reflection. To me, the sky is quite real and believable enough and the light/dark balance between the top and reflection is spot on. But maybe it's that bright reflection that's acting as a giant eye magnet keeping my eye in the water - almost have to force myself to look up. Maybe it's just me though.

I think this is a spectacular capture and a wonderful moment in nature.

Absolutely beautiful scene Dean. I am not on my calibrated monitor, but the repost looks slightly better to me, although somewhere in.-between may be even better.

Beautiful capture, Dean, I like Lon's suggestion about toning down the middle part of the reflection, it seems to be a bit brighter than the actual sky above. I like your original post better, the sky seems kind of dull in the repost. As Vincent suggested, somewhere in between the two would be perfect. What month did you take this last year? I'm trying to decide if the last week of September will be late enough to visit... :toast:

Leave the sat in the trees and correct the reflection as Lon suggested. What a glorious moment you captured, Dean! Great shot. :toast:

I like it! It's moody yet colorful and is a nice take on this classic scene. Well done!
