Hello There :) September 10th 2010

I have to get really close up to my subjects, to get these shots. This one was taken within 2-3 inches away!
I am sure everyone at the park, thought I was insane, as they watched me snaking along on my belly as I inced towards this damsel fly, sunning on a rock.
I had to try a few times, but she finally agreed to look up and pose :)

Minor brightness and contrast, in PS

Panasonic DMC-TZ3
Focal Length 43.3mm
Shutter Speed 1/800 sec
Aperture f/4.9
ISO/Film 100

I was asked to post the camera settings, for my photos. I could not afford an expensive camera body and macro equipment, so I built an attachment for my camera, that included cardboard tubing and lots of duct tape. The above settings, may or may not make any sense since the attachment changes just about everything. :)

Very impressive macro image, Stephen. Not sure how you managed to get so close. Superb detail, especially in the rendition of the eyes. I like the catch light in the eyes as well. Well done. :toast:

Nice & sharp! At first I thought it was in the snow or something! You must be pretty sneaky to get so close! I really like those big eyes & how clear they are.

Excellent, Stephen. Very difficult to get that close to one of these-I can imagine the patience it took. The angle on the eyes is great.
