WC #550 - Muddy & Stinky

These are my two dogs. In fall 2010 we were up near Edmonton, at Elk Island National Park. One of the trails has this boardwalk, going over a mature beaver pond. The sediment in that pond stinks like anything and acts like quicksand.

Daisy, the one on the left, for whatever reason, decided to dive in! She didn't re-surface, so thankfully when I pulled on the leash she popped up. Well, that's when Kavi decided to help, and he jumped in to "save her". I was able to get her back onto the boardwalk, but had to drag him back to 'solid' ground (as he's much heavier).

This is the aftermath. How can 2 dogs (on leashes!) get into such trouble?

They are a sight to behold. Looks like they enjoyed it regardless. I even bet they liked the aroma, too. Dogs certainly enrich our lives in many ways.

Cute picture and story, Karen. Pets sure can help make our lives more interesting. I don't have a dog but have two cats and they have their share of crazy antics too. I also wonder what you looked (and smelled) like after all this rescuing? I guess you all had a fun clean-up when you got home!

LOL!! Oh, Karen, this is just priceless! The story, along with the photo, makes me love your dogs almost as much as I love my own. In particular, your last line that questions how two leashed dogs can get into such trouble, puts me in stitches. I don't know the answer, but they sure do! And the stinkier and dirtier they get, the happier they are. Daisy and Kavi say so right here. Thanks for sharing.

This is a good photo. I like the color and perspective. I love the title. And a good story too.

I was on that boardwalk in July. It's a neat place and I'm sure your dogs did enjoy themselves. The fact that everything came out well makes for a great story. The dogs sure do look proud of themselves and the colors in the picture are great.

Really cute shot of the two big guys, great 'rescue' narrative.
Sure would've liked to see Daisy pop her head up from the muck, with you tuggin' on the leash
Very cool, TFS Karen! :wavey:
