A Simple Portrait

Here's an image I took a little over a year ago, at a gardens that was my favorite place to photograph flowers. I've since moved away; however, I have a few images from there to remember it by!

This is one of my favorites...I like its simplicity. The upper left corner was a little darker than the rest of the background, and so I fooled with it for awhile...

F/3.5, 1/250, ISO 250, 60mm, some selective sharpening and noise reduction.

Cute and perky little showoff ! Nice and soft with the selective, shallow focus, and where the focus is seems just right. I like this a lot.

Nicely positioned yellow spot surrounded by softness. I like the flower a lot but not sure about the amount of negative space on the right.

Excellent, James. Interesting decision on such a shallow DOF, but it works very well. The soft, contrasting bg works well for the purple flower.

Beautifully done!!! I love the tiny dof on the one little yellow flower as well as the positioning in the frame!

I really like the flower, the background, pov and dof. But I also am on the fence about all the empty space on the right. You might try a slight crop.

I love the portrait because of the shallow depth, but I would have liked to see the negative space to the other side and the bloom leaning into it. Just me.
