Some great images being posted here lately..keep up the good work everyone! I apologize for my lack of participation, Montana has been keeping me pretty busy! Here's one I took in the Paradise Valley area last week near Emigrant. Thanks for any comments you may have!

Please view LARGER, sorry about the quality I had to compress this one quite a bit to fit under the posting limits. Can you spot the frosted dragonflies?

I like this image, but I am not sure I can tell you exactly why. The light is nice and you captured the beams very well. It just has an over all nice feeling about it.

This is pretty sweet, Zack. It definitely evokes a reaction and for me, that reaction is that I'd like to lay down in the grass and feel the warm rays of sunshine on my face. Nice work.

Simple and sweet. The rays add a little magic to it.

Hey - Nicely controlled flare - I'm on the fence about the dark areas in the corners. The dragonflies would make nice macros. Very cool. I had soem similar conditions in a field of flowers I was in here in NH. Looks like you're really enjoying MT. How long have you been there?

Hey Harry, I've been here since mid June. I do have some other comps with the dragonflies as the main subject.

Very nice light Zack. This works because it conveys the conditions so well.

Terrific Zack. Great job capturing the moment and being able to incorporate the light and flare and make it all work. The back light on the grass is of course wonderful. I am kinda wishing there was a focal point in the grass - a single flower, a prominent web or dragonfly that was mentioned. I really like this as is, but I find my eye wandering a bit. No biggie though, great work.

Interesting symmetry and interesting light. This seems like it would be a tough composition to spot being so close to the direct sunlight. I like the way it turned out.

This is a tough shot, and to be honest i made up my mind from the thumb. The light is nice, and you handled the exposure well. It's a tricky thing cause by cutting off the top i feel it leaves you wanting to see more up there--but if you showed it, it might be too strong. So, like i said--tough. but nice.
EDIT: reading Lon's post--i think he's saying the same thing in a different way. The rays here lead upward, but it's cut off up there, and that leaves you lacking a fp. I do agree it's no biggie.

Very cool, Zack. Indeed, it seems like a tough shot that you nailed. I really love the warmth that the sunlight sheds onto the image. :toast:
