Olympus E5, ZD300 2.8, 1.4xTC, ISO100, f7.1, 1/250 resting on vehicle window

Big cold front with high winds came through last night. Quick ride out to the local NWR yielded some shots. It was still very cloudy and a bit dark out with some light rain at times. Got this Swainson's family alongside the paved road on the way to the refuge. Guess mom was trying to show the kids the proper way to eat a gopher. Got several different poses, but I like this one with the nearest juvie seemingly cowering from mom's "words".

Very nice image, Dave. Super detail in the birds. Your focus was right on. Nice comp and the birds sure gave you a great pose. Nice BG to show everything off. Well done.

A terrific photo, Dave. Excellent capture of interaction, interesting postures and great techs. As well as a group photo of Swainson's, usually a solitary species. Fine work.

Three birds are better than one bird. At least if yoy get them to pose like this. Background and sharpness is very good.

Wow, what a great find and an excellent shot. I like that all three are sharp with good detail and the background color really compliments the overall image . I might crop the top just below the dark line but a very minor item. Wonderful image, the larger image was a pleasure to view, way to go.

Haha, funny about the little one cowering :jump: ! I love that they all have different poses! Very nice detail in the feathers, looks like you chose the best possible aperture for the image. What a bonus to have the gopher there! I hope to see more!
