Silage in the Morning

Last week I was driving near Fairview, SD on my job when I came across some farmers cutting corn for silage. I took some b&w photos with my brand new 1937 Bessa RF and Portra 400 in my 1951 Rolleiflex. I couldn't resist the warm light from the morning sun and the classic scene. I ended up getting to ride around in the tractor for a couple of laps, and then got to drive it for one lap around the field. The tractor was being driven by a very pretty woman and the windrow machine by her brother. I'll drop them off some prints next week. The Rollei has a single coated 75mm Tessar that gives a very vintage feel to the photos it takes.

Kent, is certainly does have a vintage feel about it. I have seen this scene many times over the years but never thought to take a shot of it. Very interesting. Maybe crop out that small area of green in the LRC. Thanks for sharing.

Spent a year in WaterTown, but don't remember where Fairview is.

Definitely feels vintage. It sounds like you had a great experience. I had a similar experience during wheat harvest this year; I rode in a combine for the first time after photographing the combine.
