Opening sunflower

A number of people in our area raise fields of sunflowers to sell or just for the beauty of it. I recently was able to spend some time on an overcast day in one of these fields, immersed in sunflowers, taking many photos. It was fairly breezy but I shot in burst mode and was able to have a high shutter speed due to all the brightness around me from the sunflowers, plus a higher ISO. Many got surprisingly good in spite of the wind so I may have to start a sunflower series!

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/3.5 for 1/2500 sec. ISO 400. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Dee-lightful, Carolyn. My kind of image. Gorgeous background, and I like the semi-bashful beautiful specimen featured here. :toast:

When I first saw this and before I read your description I was thinking it looked windblown (which is a good thing). I don't know if those petals are leaning toward the center because of the wind but I sure like the overall look of this. Nice stuff.

Whoa! a sunflower with personality, looking a little shy or playing peek-a-boo. Love this. :toast:

Striking, Carolyn! Unique in the way some of the petals fold on the left. Good color and DOF choice.

This is an awesome image. I like it half opened and the golden BG. Very sharp in the center. Great one. :jump:
