I was looking for a nice herd shot when these three stopped and all took a look at me setting up. Nikon D300 F8 1/200 ISO 400. Nikon 24-120 F4 @ 66mm.
Comments and critiques always welcome. Always learning.
Thanks
Andrew

Only nit is the fence post try getting rid of them and something red in the middle towards the back.

This is a nice herd shot Andrew. I particularly appreciate the depth created by having a few at close range and than others at different distances and the mountain backdrop. A really pity about the fence I agree, this just gives it a feeling of captive Bison (are they?).

Not captive. They moved into a field adjacent to some fenced fields. I can remove the fence posts and the unknown red item in the background easily I think with fill in CS5.

I appreciate the setting and especially like the big-eyed suspicious look they are giving you! Thanks for posting it~

I like the look you've caught them giving you and (despite the fence) the vastness of the scene. The bison look nice and sharp, too.

I like the raised heads and the inclusion of the herd in the BG. I agree with others about the fence, but that isn't a deal breaker on the shot. My nit is the comp feels a bit off balanced to me. With having the 2 of the bison on the left and having the closer and so tight in the frame, as a viewer I feel tilted towards that side of the shot. I might have left in some space on the left and a touch more on bottom to balance it out more.

I like the stares and the depth with the mountain in the back.
Was this on a farm? I think I see a fence in the BG?
