Ben Loyal from Lochan Hakel, Sutherland, Scotland

Just a little after sunrise, the strong sunlight from the left, lit up the tips of the mountain and the reeds. Taken on a Transient Light Workshop with Ian C. Needless to say, I am really enjoying my film images from this trip.

Great work with the grad filter. The balance looks perfect, and we don't see its use much since blending has become so popular. Wonderful detail, especially in those grasses. :toast:

Very nice, Eva. I love the foreground with reeds and then the distant peak and reflection are really nice.

I wondered when I would see this one it has really delightful colour and gentle light striking Ben Loyal. I think this is a superb shot and the reed bed complements the reds on the slopes quite delightfully. I might just back off fractionally on the green of the reeds the nearer ones are just a little too electric.

Thanks very much Harry and Mark. I really don't like working in PS all that much. So grads it be instead of blending. Just my preference. I also feel more at home with film since I did it for so long. Glad I went back there thanks to inspiration from Ian C's work.

Thanks Nick.

Ian - Thanks very much for input. Much appreciated. I recently ordered a color target from Wolf Faust for Velvia 50 to profile my scanner. Current profile is based on Ektachrome target and the Velvia pre-scan needs work to get it to look like the transparency. Hopefully new target will help with my Velvia 50 scans but I will re-visit this scan file since I probably won't get the target for at least a week.

Exceptional photo, Eva. The light is beautiful and your composition couldn't be any better. Perfect use of the GND, too. I still use mine more often than blending as I like to finish most of the work in the field. Lovely image all-around!

A gorgeous image Eva. I love the slightly purplish hue to the blues in contrast with the green reeds. Stunning light. The softness of the clouds is also a nice contrast to the sharp, contrasty mountains. The touch of sunlight on the peaks is pure icing. Love this one.

I love the symmetry of this image Eva, and the leading lines of the grasses. Thanks for sharing!

Eva, this is a convincing presentation of the scene to me. I enjoy following the grasses into the depth of your image. The reflection is spot on to my eye. Great work in my opinion.

At first, I did think much of this, but, the more I look the more I like. Lots of nice detail in this scene. Very nice light, too. Good work.
