Green Heron

Don't see many of these around my area, then I found 2 in one day! This one was sitting at an old pond behind a 300 YO hotel that I wanted to shoot. The hotel was a bust as lighting wasn't good. But this guy sat and posed for me for about 2 minutes. Long enough to run and change to my 100-400mm lens then take a few freehand shots.

Tech's: canon 7d @ 400mm, f5.6, 1/160sec, -.33, iso100
handheld balanced on a post, about 50% crop.
Minor sharpening and adjustments in CS6 raw.

C&C appreciated

Nice crisp shot of the heron, Neven. Too bad it didn't perch on the nearer branch, but not much you can do about that.

great shot and nice perch, I would probably crop little bit tighter....... One thing what I don't understand is the setting, ISO only 100, with 7D in these conditions you can easily manage up to ISO 1000! :wavey: :toast: :wavey:
