Midway Geyser, Yellowstone (yep, I know there is some boardwalk in the shot but hey it's Yellowstone - you almost can't make a shot there without some boardwalk showing - so I'm posting it here instead of Man & Nature gallery).

This illustrated a blog post some time back by the same name in case anyone is interested . . .

Striking! The sun behind the steam clouds reminds me of a boiling cauldron (not that I've ever actually seen a boiling cauldron). The lines in the FG really draw me into the scene as well. Another real beauty Ian.

Beautiful lighting! Cropping below the boardwalk creates an interesting abstract - the cloud reflected in the pit is my favor part.

Nice image. One question, though: why not just clone the boardwalk out?

NICE! What amazing lighting you got to work with that day. Such a beautiful place to be, I can't wait to go back there later this year!

Wow, Ian, another fantastic Yellowstone image. I love the reflection. I could see this one selling as a poster in the Visitor Center gift shop. :toast:

Awesome shot Ian - It's interesting how the BL curvy shape really propels you into the composition. Very pleasing subtle color overall as well.

yep, darned humans building boardwalks ... maybe a little of two compositions - the light show at the top and then something abstract along the bottom ... the delicate lines in the middle help connect and are interesting.

In the small version the foreground fall back a bit behind the wonderful upper part, but that might be different in a big version or a print. Overall it's very nice to look at.

Hi Ian - Stunning image.

Hope you understand that I need to move this to the M&N Gallery. The boardwalk was quite obvious even before I read your description. Please contact me or one of the other moderators if you have an issue with this.

Superb foreground and great light. In many ways the boardwalk adds to this image by adding a known scale element. Really great image.
