River of Life

We have a beautiful silver maple in our front yard that we planted this spring. It has grown like a weed with exceptionally large leaves. The vein pattern caught my eye and reminded me of a river delta. It was quite a challenge aligning the plane of focus and getting a light breeze to subside for just a fraction of a second. All comments welcome. >=))>

Very different from the standard leaf vein pattern shots because of the lighting. Along with your title it reminds me of images of earth taken from space where half the planet is lit and the other half dark....nice conceptual image.

The veins stand out beautifully in their shadows, Bill, with a lovely rippling effect. Overall you can read it as a cloud passing over a landscape - a very nice idea.

Hi Bill. Interesting light and nice details. I think I am seeing a bit of the softness with the breeze and the plane of focus challenges that you mentioned. That would be my only nit. I think the vertical comp works pretty well.

Great idea and well executed. Definitely worth viewing large. The details on the dark really come out.

Bill
Like this day and night comp. It must take some time to find a leave where one half is lighted and the other in the shade to fall exactly along the central vein. :toast:

Looks like the solar terminator found your leaf. I like the high contrast between the sides and the fact that you've kept the details in the shadow side.

Hi Bill :wavey: It's remarkable how the play of light affects color and texture, here you have given us an excellent example of how it works, very creative  :jump:

I really like the light/shadow separation Bill. Very well composed and captured.

Great use of light and shadow Bill with the dividing factor in the middle, leaves me wondering which y section to take, off into the light or the one leading into the shadows ! :toast:
