Hummer Silhouette Part 2

After my post titled "Happy Accident" I decided to set up for a silhouette, but still maintain a little detail in the hummer, rather than a pure silhouette. This is one of the results of that effort.

2 flashes on the background at very low power, one set to skim just a bit of light on the hummingbird and flower. I was pretty pleased with the results. Interested in your thoughts as well.

Thank you for your kind comments on my continuing series of hummingbirds.

Canon 5D Mark III
100-400 @ 400mm
ISO 320
1/200 @ f/14 with flashes as described above.

Larger Version included.

It works well for me Kieth. Different and provoking. :argue:

Very, very nice. No "accident" here; a lot of vision and careful preparation. The details on the bird and flowers really show up so much better in the large version.

Preparation prevails. Excellent. The background has a nice rainbow effect. :toast:

Beautiful, Keith. To tell the truth, I prefer these to the full flash exposure shots. This one, in particular has a great late evening feel to it. A very interesting technique and thanks for providing the details.

Love it - the splash of light on the hummer works for me, just enough detail and color to really draw your eyes into the image. I especially like the flower in this version - beautiful lines. I only wish to see a bit more of the far wing, other than that, perfect.
