Rain Pulverized

A lot of rain pounded these lilies the night before this was taken. Somehow it seemed better than the usual composition. No check that...not better...but different!

NIkon D300 and Zeiss 100 mm on tripod and f18, cable and mirror up. An HDR blend of two photos.

Geez, I usually put my camera away when I come across this type of rain pounding (which we get alot of in the Seattle area). This has shown me not to do that.....

I'm curious as to why the need for an HDR blend? Whatever the reason it doesn't look HDRish which is a good thing.

Ken:
Looks like you have bad weather too.

It sad to see all this Lilies cut down in their prime but the rain has created an unusual arrangement and you had the vision to capture this. Love the light and vibrant color :toast:

Mark, thanks for comments...I did this HDR only because this type of shot often works best in the low light of dusk where even light and soft shadows are given. This was in middle of day...and the dynamic range worried me..so I went with three or four exposures...and selected a pair for HDR in CS5. I pulled out the dark areas and kept bright areas darker.

Wow Ken. Very good 'out of the box' thinking. Nice work on getting something different. I like this a lot.

Very assured handling of a complex floral grouping, Ken. The counterpoint of the anthers to the L and the green leaves to the R balances the composition beautifully.
