Some epic light show, Rick. I wish to see just a tad more details of the ground.
Welcome to NPN.

Welcome to NPN also. Fine first post. Very interesting light show and a nice composition. I think the second image is and improvement.

Rick,
Welcome to NPN and the Landscape gallery. What a terrific first post - Nice light? I'd say frickin' awesome! Conditions like this aren't all that common and to get something like this I'm sure will be unforgettable.
Personally, I don't mind the detail-less landscape. I think the story is the light and sky and there's not too much foreground/landscape that I'm expecting anything more than an anchor. Opinions may vary of course, but I really like this as presented.
Welcome! We look forward to your images and participation in the galleries and forums.

Wow, that is some awesome, unusual light and great rain/virga clouds! Right in my back yard too! I agree with Lon, the main show is the center swath of light and clouds; the extra shadow detail on the ground doesn't particularly add anything for me, in fact it might divert a little too much attention away from the primary subject. Nice post and welcome to the galleries and NPN Rick! Be sure to stop by and say hello in the RMNP forums if you are from the region.

The sky rocks! Just enough detail in the repost, but still allows the sky to shine in this one. How could it not? Crazy wild and beautiful.
