Found out thanks to NPN this is a fly. This one nicely stayed still for a few shots.

Very nice, John. The fly is very sharp. The light is strong, but well handled. To make this cleaner, you could crop or clone out the leaf on the far left edge and the stem in the URC.

Great close-up of this fly, John! So many strange looking critters out there; this one is quite hairy. Nice perch, comp, and good focus on the eyes. Would agree with Scott's suggestions if you wished to clean it up but not very distracting as is. Good capture; nice he cooperated for a few shots.
