The Indian Paintbrush are looking really fresh if your at the right elevation of course; I think this was blooming around 3000 ft on the evening of our Independence Day. Uncluttered and against a rock face it was screaming shoot me! So I did. Check out the larger version. Thanks for looking.

Hi Bruce, nice n'sharp plant! Pops like fire-cracker against the stone. Vivid reds nicely shown. Good shot!

Very nice. Love the red agains the rock. I really like the paintbrush stem paralleling the crack in the stone.

Nice contrast in textures between the rock and the paintbrush. I also like the crack in the rock paralleling the plant. It looks like the paintbrush was up against it's background so you did a nice job keeping the rock a little soft although I wouldn't mind seeing it a little more OOF.....what aperture did you use?

Bruce - I like how the Reds break the darker tones. Pretty nice background blur for an aperture of F/6.3 even though I think if the rock was in focus, it would also make for a nice frame.

Bruce:
Lovely bloom. The bg rock face provides a nice bg, would be nice to see the texture too. My very minor nit is the dark marking on the rock draws the eye to the RUC and out of the frame
