Tree Swallow

I went down to our local marsh to try and shoot some arctic terns. I was disappointed to find that some time within the past couple of days they basically fledged and left. Not a one left. But I found an area with a few swallow fledgelings and the parents flying back and forth feeding them. One of the adults sat still long enough for a shot or two.

Your Arctic Terns are off to Antarctica, no doubt. A long flight; they need to get started. Good job on the Tree Swallow; the blue sheen is excellent.

Very nice detail and exposure on the swallow. Impressive for the ISO and the shutter speed hand held.

Very nice details in the Swallow. The iridescence is great. Pleasing background. I wish for a little more room at the bottom.

Excellent job catching the iridescent blue without blowing it out, Dan. Superb detail and exposure.

Simple, but effective image. Dan. Like how you captured the iridescence. :toast:

THis should make up for the lack of terns!
Great pose, very fine detail and nice BG. The square-ish comp works well here.
You even got the irridescense - excellent!

Thanks for the comments. I think the game has changed and 1600 is no longer high ISO.

great pose and super detail, Dan. very nice work handheld. only thing for me is I'd like a little more room on the bottom, easily added if you don't have it.

wish I could say that 1600 was not high ISO for me and my 7D.
