Hole-in-the-Wall Beach, Davenport, California. A wonderful little spot to watch the sun pass under the horizon...

Interested to hear if anyone has comments on the processing. As most with ocean scenes with a significant amount of wave action, that was pretty challenging. Any other comments/critiques are greatly appreciated as well!

Thanks for looking!

I think you did a good job with the processing Mat, especially given the challenging conditions. I particularly love the shimmering luminosity of that sky. That really makes the shot for me!

I agree the processing is spot on. Some kind of sunset and some nice waves. Nice capture.

Gorgeous scene, Mat. The processing looks good to my eye as it looks naturally vibrant. At this size the wave action looks good with just enough balance between detail and motion.

Beautiful scene with lots of movement but not too much. The sharpness of the rock on the left and the reflection on the sand on the right help to anchor it. Well done!

I like the scene. Wonderful light and some really nice textures. Middle rock and oranges in the sky seem a bit to grayish. Not sure what to suggest. Maybe a boost in mid-tone contrast would help.

Very pretty scene and well exposed. It looks a tad flat to my tastes- might play with a bit more contrast and see how that makes a difference. The water motion is nice.

Nice comp with the rocks leading diagnollay across the frame. Great color in the sky and reflection. Nice job.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Tony and Bob, thanks for the point about the contrast. I have been struggling with that damn middle rock. I wanted to hold more detail, but really I don't have the data in the raw. I think just letting it go to closer to black is the way to go. I also added a little bit contrast to the sky. If I take it too much further I am getting a little posterization, so it's tricky. Hopefully once my new camera arrives that will help with that reoccurring issue
