Beautiful composition, Sandy: the diagonal branch, mottled bg, and bird pose combine wonderfully. Fine detail in the bird too. I wish that he had picked a smaller, more well defined bug......but that might be a little hard to control.....The thin beige frame sets everything off very well too.

Nice new camera!

I'd fine tune your sharpening procedures - this looks a little soft as posted.

Isn't that plant material in the beak instead of the insect assumed by others?

Beautiful image Sandy. I am a little bothered by the flower parts coming out of the bird's head, but it is a minor nit.

Sandy, nice image. I like the pose you caught this bird in. It looks alert even with a beak full of seed? Good colors too. Thanks for sharing.

That's quite a mouthful. Great sharpness on the finch and plant and a nice, painterly background.

I think he is gathering flower heads and seeds. I didn't mention how big the crop was, as I wanted to see how soft people felt this was, (definitely soft) but this bird was almost in the next county and the D800 didn't much care. This is about 5% of the frame.
