Olympus E5, ZD300f2.8, 2xTC, ISO100, f5.7, 1/1250 resting on vehicle window

Found 3 juvie Loggerhead Shrikes getting fed by Mom this afternoon at Benton Lake NWR. This one was calling for his turn as Mom returned from the hunt. This is about a 50% crop.

Cute little one! Nice begging pose, and great face and eye.
Quite a bit of noise on the bird in the larger version, though - a smaller crop still be effective and eliminate some or all of the noise.
Nice catch!

Don't think I have ever seen a shot of a juvie Loggerhead Dave. I can't ever seem to get a shot of the adults I am happy with since they are very skittish. I love the open beach and wingspread. I wish the shadows weren't so heavy, but you handled the exposure on them really well. Nice work! I'm not seeing the noise Sandy is talking about.

Great pose of the juvie anticipating being fed. Really nice detail in those downy feathers.

I like the POV and cute juvie pose a lot David, great blue BG too.
The perch makes this comp work nicely also.
The open beak and catchlight take it over the top, well done! :toast:
