Hallgrimskirkja

Had a nice time in Scotland & London, and even better back in Iceland! Reykjavik, the capitol, is a town of 130,000 much like the small city I live in. It's dominated by the Icelandic national cathedral which is named Hallgrimskirkja. The front is made of hexagonal columns that are meant to represent basaltic lava. If you've been there, you can't miss it. It doesn't really get dark up there on the Arctic Circle in June. I took this photo at night, in light that lasted only about one minute before the gap in the clouds closed back in.

Stormlight on a house of worship makes for a pretty dramatic image. I like that the perspective moves the eye down the dark street and right up the tapering cathedral into the cloud breaks.

Very nicely done, Kent. The cathedral looks both imposing and inviting. I love how its glowing in comprison to the rest of the scene.
