This is a companion picture to my last post (Lunch Room). This was taken from the sheep pasture just after sunrise. The haze in the valleys is smoke from the recent fires. I was not sure whether or not to include the fg. I get to be on these ridges all summer so suggestions for improving these 'vistas' will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking

Nancy Lea,

What a beautiful view and I like where you're going with your titles, "office," "break room," etc. Makes one quite envious.

I think the foreground works well in helping to create depth. Granted, nothing much interesting going on with the foreground, but I think it still helps. Overall though, what isn't happening in the foreground kind carries on throughout the scene. I think this is just a case where being there, the sights, smells, sounds and experience just sometimes have a hard time translating through the photography. And that shouldn't take away from the beauty we see every day with or without our cameras.

Definitely brings pastoral to mind, and that seems very fitting. Nice "office;" I'm jealous of your work space!

Hi Nancy Lee - I like the various layers of land, mountains, and sky but have to ask, did you use a gradient filter here? That would help with the sky to make it a little darker and match the rest of the scene. I usually use a 1-Stop or maybe a 2-Stop or something in between. It might balance the scene and accentuate the beautiful layers here.

Very peaceful scene. The foreground doesn't provide much interest - perhaps you could look around for some interesting rocks or plants as foreground. Or perhaps try a portrait orientation zoomed in on the trees and mountains. I second the earlier comment about perhaps using a gradient filter to darken the sky (could also be applied post-capture). Thanks for sharing this lovely scene.

This is a beautiful and calming scene! I especially like the layers of the hills. I agree with the other suggestions already mentioned - darkening the sky and perhaps finding and placing an interesting object in to the foreground.

What a wonderful work place. While you are hard at work you will have great view to enjoy. Makes me wish I could just sit there for awhile. Thanks for the nice feeling.
