Summertime Blues

Common "Familiar" Blue Damselfly, bright sunlight around noon.
These Bluet's are medium-sized damselflies, and males are more blue than black as seen here.
F/16, 1/250th, ISO 500, 1D M3, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 + Kenko 1.4 x ext & manual focus. Shot handheld in a prone position.. more or less:wink:
I realize it's summer - A lot of people are taking vacation time.
But sure hope things pick up in this macro forum.
I love macro and your feedback's important. Have a great day! :wavey:

Wonderful detail and pose for this damselfly, Howard. I especially like that it seems to be looking out at us. It makes it a very intimate shot. In the small version, the plants seemed to distract us from the damselfly a bit despite the color difference. However, in the large version this is not nearly so much the case. That said, I'd still be tempted to try increasing the blur of everything except the damselfly and the plant that it is perched on. Fantastic color for a damselfly!!

Great dof on this damsel. It's so hard to get a good head on shot and this is top notch.
