Horsetail blooms

This is a 9 shot stack of horsetails blooming alongside the C&O Canal last March. Finding these little blooms at my feet and slowly realizing what they were was a very pleasant surprise. (5D, 100mm macro L, 1/60 s, f/8, iso 100, tripod and cable release)

Mark:
I can see why your are delighted with this. The specimen is just beautiful and the lighting condition is perfect for showing off them. Lovely to see the striation on the stem. :toast:

Gorgeous light on the horsetails and great job with the stack. I'm trying to decide about the green in the BG...I kind of like the streaks coming from the top left as it coincides with the direction of the light but I'm wondering how it would look without the rest of it?? Either way, nice find; looking down is often the best way to find great subjects. :toast:

Mark - Looked at it a few times to make sure I was not seeing a Watercolor painting effect  . Never seen these before. Superb details and interpretive interaction between the two horsetails.

What a great find Mark, way to go
Nice job as far as I can tell on the stacking, the results look excellent to me.
I've been meaning to buy a one year license on some of that software, just keep putting it off.
Well done! :toast:

Wow this is wonderful, Mark! The dark background shows off the details and texture of these unusual blooms so well. Great lighting in this also. Are these are type of fungi, grass, or other type of plant? Don't recall ever seeing these before. Nice find!

Wow, Mark, these really pop in this light against the dark background (and I'm glad the background is not plain black). Great idea to shoot these "cones"; most people are familiar with the bright green plants, but shooting the fruiting bodies gives us a unique view.
