This is a picture I made a little while back and was just working on the file for a new print. I think I may have posted one of the shots I made at this time but not sure if it was this one. It was shot about this time of year in the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness Area of Upper MI. The rain was just coming to an end when I made this 25 second exposure. The air was very still but I was still surprised at no movement in the leaves for 25 seconds. Plenty of mosquitos however trying to ruin the nice feel after the rain. Thanks for looking.

A pleasant and tranquil scene.
The state bird (Mosquitos) sure wreak a lot of havoc in our lives ...

What Matt said. And, just to say that you really made the greens sing in this one! :toast:

A busy scene that you tamed quite nicely. The greens are really nice here. Sort of wish there was just a bit more unpolarized sheen on the water.

A very verdant and tranquil scene Nick. The light and color is well balanced. The diagonal stream motion works well too.

Well handled classic composition. I agree with Tony about the sheen on the water.

Nick, your composition leads me through the image in an appealing way. I enjoy the gentle flow of the creek framed by the fantastic greens. The upper part with the fallen log complementing the vertical trunks makes for an additional area of interest. Wonderful work for me, I keep exploring all the details for a long time.

Nice tranquil scene, Nick, I can't believe you got away with a 25 sec exposure and no leaf movement

The only thing I might recommend is dodging the shadows in the upper left hand corner, that section just looks a little out of place.

Very nice forest scene! And since you ask for comments before print, I might just darken a little those yellow leaves in the top middle. (this is really just nitpicking  and it's difficult to see here on the web size anyway)

Nick,

What a quiet and lovely scene. Quiet, and I can just imagine the scent and feel in the air after the rain. funny, even before reading your comment, one of my first thoughts was, mosquitos....

No nits and only one small suggestion. I would try and pull some exposure from the midtones/shadows in the grouping of trees in the ULC. Not that I need or want to see shadow detail there, but the area is big and dark enough that it draws my eye. Minor though.

Thanks to all of you! I think from your comments I can get this where it needs to be for the print. In this repost I darkened the highlightes in the top center right yellow leaves as Shantikara suggested and I also lightened the shadows and a bit of midtones in the upper left corner as Zack and Lon brought up. This is the image with those small adjustments...Thanks!

A really beautiful and tranquil forest scene Nick. Amazing there is no foliage movement at 25sec. Forests are so fabulous just after a storm, and you've captured that wonderful glow and rich color here imho. I really like your comp too with the position of the fallen tree and the diagonal water flow.
Edit - repost looks good. I like the left shadow area fix, but thought you may have burnt the highlights a bit much as it's now lost it's nice glow and feeling of light coming down from above imho.

Thanks David! A agree with you and think I will put the highlights back close to what they were at the top. Then I'll print and see how it looks. I appreciate your feedback. Cheers! Nick

The fallen over tree adds a lot of depth. Well composed, nice, rich saturated colors from all the rain. This turned out great! Excellent work Nick. :wavey:
