Rock of Ages

Thanks for the comments on my previous image. I guess the reflection theme didn't thrill too many.... ;-) And that may be the case here too, back to a little more nature abstracts.

From our May Yosemite trip, this granite wall is beneath/part of what is called the "Royal Arches" near the Ahwahnee Hotel. There was a number of cascades running down the rock face - in fact Harley posted one a few weeks back. This is the rock face adjacent to small cascade of water.

This is actually a blend of two 4x5 slides. I had exposed two sheets with different polarizer settings to reduce some glare. I liked the blue sheen from one and the golds from the other - so together they went.

Would love to hear your feedback and impressions.

(Lots TK influence, actions and masks with this too!)

thanks!
Lon

Very handsome. I can see this printed large on 100% rag paper. I'm sure it would be stunning. I wonder how many others will see faces in this. I see a profile on the right looking left and a straight forward gaze on the left.

Awesome! The textures and light are excellent. The sheen makes it almost seem metallic. Pretty much at a loss for scale, which is perfect, IMO.

Nice title. Nice abstract. Interesting colors and tones. Looks like metal infused rock or rock infused metal. The lighting is so non directional that it almost seems like there was no light at all but that it was just a graphic creation. Very fascinating Lon.

I like it. In the thumbnail I found a face to be quite evident, less so in the full image. Gorgeous though...

I think your blend creates another layer of interest. Excellent tones and textures, and the faces are quite evident to me.Very well done.

It takes a while to soak in, but it is growing on me. If I were to hang one of you images in my house there would be many more I would pick first, but I appreciate it it nonetheless.

Stunning textures and detail Lon and I very much like the 3-D look this has. Looks like the rock form is protruding out of my screen. I see faces as well which are especially evident in the thumbnail. I like the subtle complexity.

Thanks for the great comments and observations so far folks! I figured the faces comments would come out - in fact I really wanted to title this, "The Three Faces of Eve..." but I didn't want to influence any impressions with the title here. I too see several faces here. Interesting though, I didn't see or think of these faces at the time.

As far as scale goes, I'm guessing 4-6ft vertically? Give or take 10? ;-) Certainly not macro and you couldn't fit a human inside the frame either.

Thanks again!

Lon, this is a very sensitive intimate, and almost abstract scene to me. I appreciate the subtle colors complementing the dominant grey.

Stunning! As I stare at this image, I can imagine all sorts of faces. Like spirits from the past. Apt title too.
