WC 538 Convict Canyon

Convict Canyon is one of my favorite hikes for fall color in the Eastern Sierra and these two photos are a side view of Mt. Morrison. The first photo was taken on October 2, 2010 at 7:03 am and the second one was taken on October 6, 2011 at 7:47 am.
Thanks and comments welcome,
Rudy

Beautiful scene, Rudy. The snow makes a dramatic difference. The colors really pop against the snow. Perfect entry for this week's theme.

Very nice shots, I love the colors in the first, but the atmosphere in the second is great. Would really like to do a fall trip to the eastern sierras.

Nice scene and well captured, Rudy! I really like the beautiful colors and scenery details in the first shot. But then it's very interesting to see the same scene covered in snow. The diagonal yellow trees become much more dominant in this photo due to the more monochrome colors of the snow-covered landscape. Good entry for our theme.

I really like the layers of sky, mountain, trees, foreground in the first picture. The pair makes for a great WC entry.

I'll echo Craig's comment. Both compositions are very appealing, but I much prefer the first one for its pure "autumn" mood.

Quite different scenes due to the snowstorm. I prefer the first especially with the mix of grey and brown colors of Mount Morrison shown.

Interesting how the snow simplifies the scene, but I like the details and subtle colors in the mountainsides better. The blue sky and scattered clouds also add interest to the first post.
