Told myself I would never do this, but it's really one of the best spots in the Tetons to get this kind of an image. Hope to have some more original content in the next month or two.

I did try to add my own little style to it though, and went the dof route to include some flowering in the foreground.

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

The light in this is beautiful and the depth is great. I like the inclusion of the flowers in the corner. I think its hard to get something unique from this vantage point, I was there before and pondered what could be done. Left with just about the same image as everyone else. Large version is a pleasure to view. Nice work.

Really like the flowers, the soft light, and pastel colors. It adds something different to this scene.

I like this shot alot, Nic. I have been looking at the large version for awhile now...it's really beautiful and I'm enjoy this view. I agreee with Phil, makes me feel like I'm standing there with you. I think the foreground you included worked really well giving this lots of depth, and also think that is part of what makes you feel like you are right there. Wonderful light and color! Very nicely done!

Nicolaus,

What a great rendition from this famous spot. I think you did very well to include the flowering plant and the fresh aspen tops at the bottom of the frame. The light on mountains is wonderful and I even like the varied colors in the midground along the river. The large version really shines here.

I think most of us have misgivings about shooting locales that have been done a gazillion times, but these spots are famous for a reason and you really shouldn't feel bad for wanting to capture your own vision of the place.

Very, very nice image of an incredible mountain range. The processing is spot on, IMO, and the large version is excellent. I'll never get tired of seeing images from this area, and think you did good finding a sort of different view. Just this single photo offers tons of choices for crops (not that it needs any at all)---panorama, vertical... Love the light on the peaks as well...

Nice take on an iconic location. The clouds and light/color on the Tetons is terrific.

My only suggestion would be to darken everything below the mtn range just a little....seems too bright for the time of day.

the flowers are a nice touch. This is a beautiful scene and you've certainly done it justice.

With clouds like this, it's worth it. What a spectacular scene. I like the balance of light throughout the frame.

Count me as another one who vastly enjoys your own unique take on this scene.
Colors and light are wonderful and the 'development' is flawless. No suggestions from me.

A beautiful scene Nicolaus. The fg flowers on the right are a nice touch. The fg and mg seem nice and sharp, but the bg mountains, where my eye is drawn, seem to be a bit soft. Perhaps it was some haze or something (?), but nevertheless, a very nice shot.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

David, I think the softness is a mess up on my part. I think when sharpening the clouds, I may have brushed over some of the tips of the mountains on accident (moran the most it looks like), making the tops sharper than the bottoms of the range. In the original file, everything is very sharp, front to back. A result of the dof blend I did. I noticed that as well but had already uploaded it.

Love the sense of distance that you've created with the the blooms and tree tops at the bottom of the frame. Will look great on the wall.

I do like the addition of the flowers. My only suggestion might be to add a little more contrast, selectivly to darken the shadows a little more. Might add a little more depth to the image. The clouds and lihting look pretty spectacular and sharp throughout. Did you need to do focal blending, or was this one shot? Edit - I see it was a blend after further reading!

Always a great place to shoot. I don't care if everyone on the planet has a shot from here. It's just a must see and catch imo. And, your version is unique to me. I really like the tonal range you have throughout, and the flowering shrub is new for me as well. Be proud of a fine personal rendition of this fantastic site.

I agree with Lon, icons are icons for a reason. The flowers really add a lot to the overall scene, and the light and clouds are both really nice. Processing looks spot on as well. I have exactly the same comp from here, except without the flowers.. :toast:
