Haven't been on the forums in a while as life has been just too busy! This is from a local Orchid Society show from a few months ago!!! I wasn't able to "arrange" or move any of the orchids.....so went tight to focus on the "alien angels" at teh center of the orchids. The bold colors really stood out on this variety for me!
Canon 1D Mark 3, Sigma 180mm macro, f/22, 1/100sec. Hand held with the MT24 twin lights at plus 1/3.

The closer the better. Love the colors, contrast, and detail. Nice job on the use of flash as well, something I've been reluctant to get into as I'm not sure I could create the natural look like you have here, IMO.

Roman - Pretty stunning with terrific details and colors. The humanoid kind of shapes deep inside the Orchids have always fascinated me.

Wow, this is quite an eye-catching photo, Roman! Wonderful rich colors and a really interesting perspective looking deep into this beautiful flower. Great details on the center area with the darker red petals forming a nice frame for this symmetrical comp. The twin lights really worked well to bring out all the details of the center while keeping the background darker.

Nice shot Roman! Very interesting colors and details in this orchid. Great job handling the flash lighting too!

I do notice there is a strong resemblance in the color palette here with your very choice avatar. :biggrin:

Superb colouring and lighting, Roman ! I think the comp works well here - this is such an attractive centre it holds the attention perfectly.
