Not a bad light show

by Paul Marcellini

I recently picked up a 24mm tilt shift and have been enjoying doing seamless stitches. Ran out to a local spot and was rewarded with a darn nice sky. The finished file after cropping is about 35 mp. Blending exposures and doing panoramas adds a new dimension of work though.

5d2, 24ts, 3 horizontals

Thanks for looking!
Paul

Paul, certainly not bad. This is crazy! Like the sky, the reflection, and the clean FG.

That is an awesome sky and love the colors. I like the foreground and how you can see beneath the water. Nicely done.

This is very, very well done, IMO. Great processing, and an incredible sky! I really liked the large version you included, but who wouldn't want to see this printed LARGE in person? TFS! :wavey:

Spectacular, Paul. Love the glow on the submerged rocks in the foreground, and the extraordinary clouds and reflection.

Really nice image Paul. I like it heaps.. but my eye is drawn strait to an odd colored area on the top edge of the right hand side rock.

Thanks everyone!

Dennis, that would be blue sky reflecting. No polarizer used here, so the rocks are seen because of the angle. That area is about where reflection comes into play and it happens to be one of the few places not super warm toned in the sky. I guess I could "fix" it for the viewers sake.

If this is what is considered "not bad" over on the Atlantic side, I can't imagine what ya'll consider "killer" ?!! Nice placement of the FG rocks filling out those corners and framing that reflection, makes me eyes happy!

Paul I am in love in your FG. It popped out really nicely. Your technique sounds interesting and worth testing it out.

Terrific sky and it's reflection. The foreground rocks and reeds are a great starting point, but I could see cropping out the darkest parts at the very bottom.

Paul, I like the contrast of the darker cloud sweeping against the orange sky, and the foreground rocks seen though the water. The LRC seems a little dark to me in comparison to the light in the LLC.

beautiful light and sky... just the top half of your comp without the reflection would make for a a very fine image, too...

Thanks again for the comments everyone.

Doug, good catch, I may dark the left and brighten the right a touch. Honestly, I did very little after Camera Raw. It seems I am doing less these days and just looking for better moments.

Awesome! Sky, the reflection, and I am really really drawn to the submerged rocks for some reason. They have an eeriness that is very cool! Very nice work.

One day I'll have to invest in a tilt shift as I like (trying) to do panos. You nailed this one. Killer clouds and great details in the foreground. :toast:

Stunning sky and reflection Paul. Excellent comp and capture of light. The fg elements are perfectly presented and the overall red glow is very attractive. Top shot!
