First Day Out

Not a "pretty" image by any stretch, just a glimpse at this fledgling's first day out.
I had the pleasure of watching a group of four take flight for the first time. This one made it about 15-20 feet before it hit the ground. But it was off fairly quickly, with Mom & Dad nearby for support

You don't name the species so I'll guess this is a wren. Quite interesting.

I really like the look of the bird and the bird's look at you. Great detail, and great experience to have and share.

Howard, I love his expression of interaction with the viewer. Gives me the feeling that he thinks he's been caught doing something illegal, more so as he seems to be hiding in the plant cover.

Great image Howard. I love the feathers on top of the head, they look like wild eyebrows. Good low POV.

One day I almost stepped on one of these, thinking it had fallen out of the nest. Luckily i made quite some noise, so I could stop in time. Nice documenting shot ! Cheers, Hans

I went back & removed some stuff that was directly in front of the bird, etc..
My goal was just to help the viewer focus on the fledgling subject, with a bit less distraction..

Hey Howard. You definitely caught him at that gawky stage, love the little tufts on the head that still remain. The new shoots fit with spring and the theme of new life in this photo. Thanks for posting it.
